At Buffalo Commons, everyone matters.

My Story

I grew up playing school and always wanted to be two things: a teacher and a mom. I worked hard to make those dreams a reality and now I am both. I have been teaching for 12 years and have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade. My husband, daughter, and I recently moved to Buffalo from Florida. He is originally from here and we are really excited to be here and ready to set down roots and become a part of the community. We were able to move next door to my husband's best friend and their family so we are really excited for all the fun times!

What Brings Me Joy

My favorite parts of teaching go beyond the "seeing the light bulb go on" cliche that everyone uses. My favorite parts are the relationships you build and learning about each student as their own individual person. I love finding what works for each student to learn beyond just that "aha" moment.

Outside of school I love spending time with my husband, Justin and our daughter, Clara. We love to swim, play with Clara, and go on "field trips" with Clara. I am looking forward to all the new things we will get to experience in Buffalo. When I have alone time I enjoy reading a good book or snuggling up for a movie.

What I'm Good At

I am good at building relationships with my students and making sure I find a way to allow everyone the opportunity to learn and grow. I am also good at asking questions. Growing up, my mom would tease me about the number of times I would ask, "what if" or "why?" As an adult I still do that. I love learning. I love knowing why someone does or thinks something specific, why something is done a certain way, how we could improve things, etc.

What the World Needs

The world needs more kindness and acceptance. We are all human beings regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, income-level, education, experience, etc. We need to treat each other kindly and we need to accept people as they are and not who we think they should be. Everyone has something unique and special to offer this world and if we accept those differences, we can learn so much from each other.

Why Commons?

Buffalo Commons is a school where everyone has something to offer and where we can all grow together into people we want to be. Commons offers a learning environment that is diverse and well rounded. It allows for students to learn from one another, discover who they are, and become a part of a community. At Buffalo Commons, everyone matters.
