About the Position

Operational excellence and strong community relationships are an essential part of what makes Commons a welcoming, effective, and inspiring learning community. As the Assistant Director of Operations you will be an integral part of the school staff, assisting the leadership team in designing and maintaining operational systems. The Assistant Director of Operations reports to the Executive Director. Additionally, this position is designed to evolve into a Director of Operations role over time.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of school operations, including facilities, food and transportation services, school schedules, rosters, student information database, visitors, payroll, and benefits

  • Manages operations staff and ensures the smooth operation of the main office

  • Ensures school-wide compliance with health and safety laws, charter contracts, state education mandates, teacher certification, and federal and state workplace regulations

  • Uses data to drive improvements in systems and operations throughout the school community

  • Leads student recruitment efforts to ensure fiscal solvency of the school

  • Collaborates with our Information Technology vendor to ensure a fully functioning technology infrastructure

  • Assists in creating and overseeing the school’s budget, finances, and relationships with outside vendors

School Leadership Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Leadership Team to build a joyful and rigorous school culture

  • Supports staff and faculty in fostering consistency in academic and behavioral expectations

  • Ensures that traditions and rituals that support the mission are built and maintained

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Similar operations/office experience (preferred)

  • Practical written, oral, and visual communications skills
